From Gym Rings to Client Calls: Why This Athlete Chose a Hotel That Moves With Him

October 27, 2025

This professional athlete and trainer traveled to Paris to compete, but at Zoku, he found a work-friendly hotel in Paris that flexed with his routine and remote work needs.

Christophe Wieloch is a professional athlete and coach who traveled to Zoku Paris from Germany to compete in an athletic competition, but ended up discovering a remote work-friendly retreat along the way. Journalist and Founder of Etude Agency, Matt Parsons, sat down with Christophe as part of our Writer in Residence Program talk about movement, mindset and why sometimes the best place to work isn’t a typical office at all.

What brought you to Zoku Paris?

I’m in town for a competition and was looking for a calm place to stay. Just three nights, which also gives me a chance to settle in a bit and catch up with a client who’s coming to support me. I was drawn to Zoku’s relaxed energy, and I’ll admit, the gymnastic rings in the Loft definitely caught my eye.

How do you find staying and working in your Loft?

I really like it, especially the fact that I can prepare my own meals if I want to. You don’t always want to go out and look for food when you’re busy. Having a kitchen right here means I can throw something together quickly and keep my routine on track. It’s rare to find a hotel room that gives you that kind of freedom.

Zoku Paris’s Loft XL is equipped with a fully functional kitchenette and gym rings.

And what’s your experience with the shared workspaces?

What I like most is that you’ve got different kinds of guests using the space at the same time; some working like me, others just relaxing. It feels easy and natural to move between focused work, downtime and the occasional spontaneous conversation. The atmosphere strikes a great balance: professional, but still relaxed and welcoming.

Zoku’s designed to help guests balance life and work. Has that help you stick to your routine?

When I arrived, I was genuinely impressed by how well the space supported all aspects of my lifestyle. I can get some work done, like manage client emails, write training plans and take care of admin tasks from the calm of my Loft or in the Social Spaces. It gives me exactly the atmosphere I needed. I can start my day with a short workout using the gym rings or the fitness area, make a healthy meal in the kitchen, then move into work mode to plan training sessions for my clients.
