What Is Amsterdam Pride?

Amsterdam Pride is the city’s annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ visibility, freedom and equality. While the Canal Parade may be its most recognizable moment, the program also includes marches, exhibitions, talks, performances, parties and community-led events across the city. The tandem Amsterdam Pride and WorldPride festivities will bring together LGBTQIA+ communities, activists and organizations from around the world together for an extended program of celebration and advocacy.

When Is Amsterdam Pride 2026?

Pride Amsterdam runs from 8–29 July 2026, while WorldPride takes place from 25 July–8 August 2026. Some cultural events begin earlier and continue beyond the main program.

Drag in Amsterdam

26 June–27 September 2026 | Stadsarchief Amsterdam

Amsterdam’s drag culture runs deep. The Stadsarchief’s Drag in Amsterdam exhibition looks back at the local origins of the centuries-old art form, how it has evolved and how it has helped shape the city’s queer culture. From 17th-century theater to today’s club scene, activism and Pride celebrations, archival material and personal stories show the importance of drag as art and culture, a way to express gender fluidity and a powerful tool for visibility and change.

LoveSwim

24 July 2026 | Amstel River

While Amsterdam’s most well-known waterside Pride celebration is its iconic Canal Parade (read on to find out more details), Pride also takes to the Amstel River at LoveSwim. During the 10th edition, 250 swimmers will glide through the canals to swim distances from 250 to 1,500 meters. While it’s fully sold out, don’t fret! Come cheer on the swimmers, who will benefit Aidsfonds, and dance and sing along with local queer talent.

Milkshake Festival

25–26 July 2026 | Westerpark

Milkshake Festival blends two days of music, performance and queer visibility in Westerpark. A diverse, upbeat lineup spanning multiple genres and incredible performances makes it one of the most joyful moments of Pride. Grab your tickets, put on your most expressive outfit and come as you are.

Pride Walk, Trans Pride Walk and WorldPride March

25 July, 2 August and 8 August 2026 | Locations across Amsterdam

Each walk is an opportunity to be intentional, show up as an ally and celebrate!

Beginning at Dam Square on 25 July, the Pride Walk moves through the heart of Amsterdam before finishing at Pride Park in Vondelpark. The Trans Pride Walk on 2 August creates space for transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people and their allies to come together in visibility and solidarity. On 8 August, the WorldPride March travels from Martin Luther King Park to Museumplein, closing the program with a powerful demonstration for the right to live and love freely.

Open Air Film Festival

29–30 July 2026 | Mercatorplein

Ahead of Pride’s city-wide street parties, Mercatorplein will transform into an open-air cinema, screening films including Plainclothes and Dreamers. The free screenings offer a more laid-back way to join the celebrations. Find a seat, settle in and discover films that place LGBTQIA+ lives, voices and creativity at the centre of the screen.

WorldPride Street Parties

31 July–1 August 2026 | Across the city center

For two evenings, Pride spills into the streets with music, dancing and good old fun. Parties take over locations across central Amsterdam, including Reguliersdwarsstraat, Stoperaplein, Marnixstraat and Dam Square. Head out to the street to discover what’s going on!

Amsterdam Canal Parade

1 August 2026 | Amsterdam’s canals

The peak celebration of Amsterdam Pride is the world-famous Amsterdam Canal Parade. A parade of decorated boats fills the city’s waterways with music, color and community. Don’t worry if you can’t snag a coveted spot on board one of the official parade boats, the party is just as fun from the canalside. Be sure to stick around for the street parties that continue into the night!

WorldPride Village

5–8 August 2026 | Museumplein

During the final days of WorldPride, Museumplein becomes one of the main meeting places for visitors, communities and LGBTQIA+ organizations. The free WorldPride Village offers activities, performances and concerts, including Wedding Party XXL. Once the WorldPride March reaches Museumplein, the celebrations end with one final evening of music and performance with a Closing Concert.

WorldPride Human Rights Conference

5–7 August 2026 | Beurs van Berlage

WorldPride is as much about progress as it is celebration. The Human Rights Conference brings activists, policymakers, organizations and community leaders together to discuss LGBTQIA+ rights and strengthen international cooperation. Over three days, the programme creates space to exchange knowledge, share experiences and address the work that still needs to be done around the world.

WorldPride Closing Concert

8 August 2026 | Museumplein

The celebrations conclude with one final evening of music and performance. After the WorldPride March reaches Museumplein, the ticketed Closing Concert brings people together to mark the end of two historic weeks and send WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 out on a high note.

Book Early

Amsterdam is already busy during summer, and WorldPride will attract even more international visitors. Book accommodation, transport and ticketed events early, particularly for the Amsterdam Canal Parade weekend.

Check Which Events Require Tickets

Many events, including the Pride Walk, Open Air Film Festival, street parties and WorldPride Village, are free to attend. Milkshake Festival, the Human Rights Conference and Closing Concert require tickets.
