DANCE & MUSIC EVENTS IN VIENNA
ImPulsTanz: Vienna International Dance Festival
9 July – 9 August 2026
Dust off your dancing shoes throughout July and into August for ImPulsTanz. The Vienna International Dance Festival, in its 19th edition, turns the city into one sweeping dance floor. With professional performances and hands-on workshops for different experience levels led by internationally recognized choreographers, dancers and teachers, the dance program will take over theatres, museums and cultural venues throughout the city. As one of the largest dance festivals in Vienna, ImPulsTanz is ideal for travellers interested in contemporary dance or simply looking to boogie their way through the city.
Popfest Wien
23 – 26 July 2026
Karlsplatz, one of Vienna’s most magical settings, gets a musical makeover from 23 to 26 July. Over the four-day programme, Popfest will feature around 50 acts, from established artists to emerging voices across a variety of genres and sounds. The festival’s main stafe, Seebühne, sits atop the pond in front of Karlskirche makes it an especially impressive setting for an outdoor concert in Vienna. Indoor performances also take place around the square, including at the Wien Museum, St. Charles Church, the Prechtl Hall at Vienna University of Technology and Club U. Immerse yourself in the sounds of Austria’s current music scene and enjoy the rhythm of the city, during one of the season’s standout free concerts.
Rooftop Live Music at Zoku Vienna
Every Wednesday and Friday throughout summer
Tucked above the city and overlooking the iconic Prater amusement park, Zoku Vienna’s rooftop hosts live music every Wednesday and Friday throughout the summer. Kultursommer Wien
2 July – 16 August 2026
Kultursommer Wien peels the curtain back on Vienna’s performing arte scene, bringing it directly into the city’s local neighbourhoods. Temporary stages appear in parks and public spaces, hosting music, cabaret, literature, theatre, dance, performance and more. Stumble across an evening concert in a neighbourhood park, a participatory programme or an open-air performance, and discover the program of free cultural events in Vienna throughout the summer.
Film Festival Rathausplatz
4 July – 6 September 2026
Every summer, the square in front of Vienna City Hall is transforms into an open-air cinema. The festival shows free screenings of opera, classical concerts, pop and rock performances, musicals and other musical highlights on a giant outdoor screen, in a setting that feels distinctly Viennese. The combination of grand architecture, warm weather and a crowd gathered under the open sky makes this open-air cinema in Vienna worth experiencing.
Wiener Kabarett Festival
25 – 31 July 2026
The Wiener Kabarett Festival fills the arcaded courtyard of Vienna City Hall with a week of comedy, live music, food and long summer nights. Each evening features two cabaret programmes, with newer names in the Austrian comedy scene who qualified for the festival through its talent competition kicking the program off followed by established, headlining acts. The distinct setting gives this comedy festival in Vienna a character of its own. Most performances are in German, so the festival is best suited to German-speaking visitors or travellers ready to put their language skills to the test.
Vienna Fashion Week
14 – 19 September 2026
Vienna’s summer events continue into September with six days of catwalk shows, new collections and emerging design at Vienna Fashion Week. Held in Halle E+G in the MuseumsQuartier, the event brings Austrian and international designers together in one of the city’s leading cultural districts. Around 40 designers are expected to present their collections, ranging from well-known names to newcomers from the local fashion scene. The fashion shows form the centre of the programme, while the shopping area and pop-up stores allow visitors to see, try on and buy pieces from local labels.
