What path has your career taken?
I started in the IT industry when I was in high school. I told my guidance counsellor I wanted to be a computer programmer so naturally they put me in an IT internship (sarcasm).
I found out about this on my first day on the job. It wasn't what I had expected but I had been working on computers since I was very young. It always felt very natural. As my tenure within the industry grew, my responsibilities did as well. I was running a service desk in Baltimore when I was recruited by a Dutch based company in the IT enterprise software space 4 years ago.

What brought you/brings you to Amsterdam?
Quarterly product board meetings to discuss the development direction of my company's software suite. Doesn't hurt that the city is fun too!

Has your time at Zoku helped you in business or in life? If so, how?
I don't know that it would be that easy to quantify or correlate. However, Zoku is a great hotel unlike any other. Originally, I picked Zoku because a colleague of mine had been staying there regularly. After the first time, and getting used to the differences between Zoku and other more traditional hotels I was hooked. I've been coming back ever since. There is such a positive vibe and the food is excellent.

What advice would you give to your 20 year old self?
If you execute the plan you laid out for yourself in 20 years you will be almost exactly where you expect to be. Have faith in the process, and hard work will always pay off.

What’s a life-changing book, song, film or event you’d like to recommend to others?
Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp a Butterfly' - the entire composition of the album is a masterpiece. Kendrick takes you through an emotionally tumultuous journey from start to finish. His style and delivery is completely unique, and the story he tells of struggle of black Americans is gripping.

What does home mean to you?
Home is a mindset. As long as you continue to surround yourself with your friends and family no matter where you wander, you can feel at home.
