Did you know that half of all CDs in the world were AOL installation discs at one point? In the nineties, America Online spent more than $300 million burning and shipping the CDs to potential subscribers across North America and Europe. Time Warner eventually acquired AOL and it now lives on in zombie form as part of the Verizon Media Group. Its days as master of the internet may be gone, but those CDs will surely litter the Earth forever.

Eliot Frack
Eliot Frack has managed to combine her passion for fashion and costume designing, her previous career in sports apparel, and love for 3D prototyping into her role as 3D Apparel Lead for STITCH design lab at PVH Corp. Eliot's journey has brought her to developing 3D workflows to help improve the process of designing clothes at PVH. Eliot is currently a long stay resident at Zoku, having stayed at Zoku Amsterdam for a month and a half now and become a much loved resident at Zoku!
What path has your career taken?
I went to college for apparel design in a small town in the States. Working as a designer was always what I had dreamed of doing. After a small stint in the bridal industry, helping me realizing I didn’t want to be in the bridal industry, I started focusing on costume design, which has always been a dream job of mine. After college instead of going to costume design school, I ended up taking a job at a sportswear company developing designs of kits for football teams. This is where I learned and fell in love with 3D prototyping. Now in my new job I get to help designers, pattern makers, and merchandisers move their workflows into 3D, and show how it can improve and speed up their work as well. I've moved to Amsterdam for my new job, having grown up and lived in the same place for most of my life. I was very excited to take this big leap and start this job in a new country!

How long have you stayed at Zoku Amsterdam and what are your thoughts?
I have been here for a month and a half! I love it here, great location nice people, and REALLY good food.

What is your top tip for being productive while working from home?
Take regular breaks! And keep your working area separate from your sleeping/relaxing area. Creating those separations helps my brain know what mode I need to be in.

What is the most inspiring place you’ve been to and what made it so special?
Other than Amsterdam, I was born in and spent most of my summers in Hawaii, and it is just one of the most gorgeous places I’ve been too. The more touristy areas can be a little crowded but if you’re able to go outside that, there are some real gems on each island.

Which product have you gifted the most?
Book of the Month club subscriptions! I don’t think they ship to the Netherlands unfortunately, maybe it will come soon! My friends love them. Any book subscription will do.

What’s your current go-to product, service or app you would recommend to others?
The “Ticket to Ride” app, it’s for the board game Ticket to Ride, it’s a really fun way to stay connected to my family and friends. Especially when video calls get to be too much.

What is one piece of advice or tip in your field of work that you want to give to people?
It is important to work hard, but make sure you find time for yourself as well. Working on yourself as a person is just as important.

How do you manage to keep up your mental health/wellbeing while working from home during these times?
I’m still working on this piece, I am not perfect at it at by any means. Making sure I am staying mindful, paying attention to what I need in the moment.
