Daniel Weaver is a Management Consultant working for Accenture Strategy, one of the biggest global management consulting and professional services firms. He is currently in Amsterdam on a 10 month-long project, helping a Dutch company optimise its cost base.
What path has your career taken?
I started as a strategy analyst in South Africa, but a strong understanding of corporate finance and success in cost reduction projects led to a relocation to Brussels, Belgium to join a specialist team of cost consultants working for key clients (including Fortune 500 companies) across Europe.
I stayed at Zoku from Mondays to Fridays for 5 months. I originally stayed at a hotel in Amsterdam centre, but started to miss the comforts of home and was tired of the constant buzz generated by tourists in the centre. I started looking for a hotel that would allow me to create a “home away from home”. The ability to cook in my Loft made the difference for me, even if I set off the fire alarm a few times (sorry).
What’s a life-changing podcast you’d recommend to others?
“How I Built This”, an NPR series. It’s made up of 45-minute long audio interviews with some of the world’s most interesting and passionate entrepreneurs.
Which book have you gifted the most, and why?
The Moleskine Classic Notebook and pen. It’s very difficult to gift a book as people’s interests, abilities and preferences differ. Even if you know all of the above, you run the risk of getting them a book they already own. A good notebook and pen make a great gift – you allow the person to write their own story.
