We are looking for a true food artist – in the visual sense – who loves plating beautiful dishes and making creative buffets that not only look, but also taste amazing. As food is the world’s most common social connector, we are looking for someone with a passion for food and people, who combines the two to create a warm atmosphere where tasty meals are merrily shared together on long communal tables. The Kitchen intern works closely together with the Head Chef, and the team of Chefs. He/she is a multitasking octopus, whom loves to chat to guests while cooking up a storm. The objective of the Kitchen intern is to put a smile on every face coming to the Living Kitchen by cooking tasty, lovely meals and to be the social connecter. The Kitchen intern reports to the Head Chef.

WHAT IS THE LIVING KITCHEN LIKE? WHAT IS OUR FOOD PHILOSOPHY?
  • The professional kitchen has a residential vibe, 25 seats and a cooking island
  • You’ll work alongside our Head Chef, and the team of Chefs
  • You’re a multitasking octopus: you’d really need to love chatting to guests while cooking up a storm. There’s no one to serve the guests, so they come to you to order and ask questions while cooking

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Prepare the mise en place (washing, cutting, cooking etc)
  • Assess the quality of the products and ingredients (freshness, storage life etc)
  • Create decorative food displays and display food in an attractive way (e.g. 
Ottolenghi style)
  • Assist in planning of daily tasks and ordering of food products and other stock supplements mainly at fixed suppliers against fixed conditions
  • Receive, control and stock the ordered products and other articles
  • Be in contact with our residents and talk to them while cooking in the open, residential kitchen

  • You are a student that is looking into gaining valuable experience as an intern, as part of your MBO+, HBO (college) or Master degree in the Culinary fields ot Hospitality
  • You are fluent in English, other languages are a plus
  • You are a European Union resident or you have a valid working and living permit for The Netherlands
  • You are fully flexible/no fixed working days/hours
  • You have provable knowledge of cooking techniques
  • You have experience with implementing HACCP guidelines
  • Internship allowance of € 500 per month
  • Full time (40 hours) internship placement at one of the 25 coolest hotels in the world
  • 6 months internship minimum
  • 10 holiday days (per 6 months)
