The General Manager is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of Zoku’s operations, by continuously implementing and improving smart and lean processes. This way, the Leads (management) and Sidekicks (the operational team) can fully focus on providing the best guest experience and service. Rather than traditional hierarchy, Zoku believes in real teamwork, so although the General Manager is the main responsible, he/she will be heading an autonomous team with a joint objective to run Zoku in the best possible way. The General Manager reports to the Head of Operations based in the Home Office in Amsterdam.

We will be opening our second location in Copenhagen, Denmark in Q4 2020. Located just five minutes from the city center by metro, Zoku Copenhagen will be situated on the vibrant Amager island, with easy access to many points of interest. It will accommodate 160 Zoku Lofts – our biggest Zoku yet! The role of General Manager will firstly be focused on the preparation of the opening, followed by opening the property and then operating it.

  • Lead the operational (pre-opening) team of Zoku Copenhagen
  • Work together with the Pre-opening manager on the critical path until opening including setting up contracts, hiring, snagging and a lot of ad hoc tasks
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance and configuration of the PMS, the POS, accounting and HR systems and oversee the continuous development of these systems according to feedback from Zoku’s partners, residents and teams
  • Prepare and control the P&L to ensure budget is achieved or exceeded
  • Coordinate outsourced services such as housekeeping
  • Ensure proper SOP implementation and execution for all operations, including continuous fine-tuning to ensure operational excellence and a motivated operational team
  • Monitor the purchase/requests of all operations, the accounts receivable and the accounts payable and manage the hotel administration/financial administration
  • Ensure all contracts and supplies (purchasing) are organised and agreements with our partners and suppliers are negotiated and managed properly
  • Create an environment where people can thrive, by leading and developing the team members to encourage maximum performance
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with other departments to ensure efficiency of operations, and high standards are met
  • Become a Zoku ambassador, both internally and externally, by living and breathing the company values
  • Be involved in the recruitment and training of new talented team members

  • Have good understanding of hotel financial statements and can explain a P&L statement
  • Understand how to evaluate and compere new contract offers
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hotel management
  • At least 2 years of experience at middle management level in the international hotel industry, ideally already as assistant GM, operations manager or room division manager of an international hotel with at least 100+ rooms
  • You speak Danish and English fluently. Additional languages are always a plus
  • You are an EU citizen or have a valid work visa for Denmark
  • You are fully flexible/no fixed working days/hours
